Annual Wellness Checkups

Cat with doctor getting examined

During the visit you’ll discuss your pet’s health at home and you’ll have the opportunity to convey anything that may be concerning you, such as alterations in behavior, appetite, weight, or anything else that has changed since the last visit. Your vet will also ask you specific questions about your pet in order to highlight common potential issues, and to get a better sense of the animal’s lifestyle and health.

After a thorough history your pet will receive a physical exam. The Veterinarian will evaluate your pet's heart and lungs, skin, coat, eyes ears and teeth. Lymph nodes, joints and the abdomen will be palpated.

Any lumps or bumps will be investigated and additional tests (ophthalmoscope, otoscope etc.)  will be used where needed for a better look at problem areas.

Next, your pet’s file will be carefully reviewed, with an eye toward ensuring that all preventative treatments have been brought up to date. Parasite control will be discussed and a parasite prevention plan will be recommended based on the individual animal's lifestyle and risk.

Wellness Services

Annual wellness checkups provide the chance for your Vet to detect changes in your pet's health or lifestyle. Wellness Checkups for Special Situations

More frequent checkups and monitoring is required for pets with chronic illness.

Senior Pet Care

Older pets often develop a range of age-related issues such as loss of appetite, gastrointestinal disorders, urinary tract problems, mobility challenges and failing eyesight. Veterinary wellness checkups support the healthy aging of your beloved pet to help maintain quality of life for as long as possible.

Puppy and Kitten Care

At a minimum you should strive to have your new puppy or kitten get a visit when they are about eight weeks of age. Early wellness exams can reveal individual or breed specific health conditions that you should be aware of and build a baseline of health that can be used throughout your new pet’s life.  In addition, if you’re a new pet owner, you can receive valuable advice and tips on caring for your young dog or cat such as tooth brushing techniques, parasite control, and socialization guidelines.
